Bronc Spring Athletes Earn Post Season Awards
The Lakin Bronc baseball team and Lady Bronc softball teams were well represented when
the Hi-Plains League All=League teams were announced. The Broncs had 5 players
selected with Ryder Yakel, Matt Armstrong, and Alex Perez on the first team while Pancho
Klassen and Brandon MIller selected to the second team. The Lady Broncs also had 5
players selected. Mariah Watkins, Jhoryn Hernandez, Kayla Swank, and Taryn Reed were
named first team with Paige Kirby being named second team. Ryder was also named to the
KABC 3A All-State second team.
On the track at the Kansas State Track and Field Championships, Robin Ritsema finished
third in the high jump while Kaylee Line finished seventh. Brandon Heinitz finished fifth in the
110 hurdles, James Pettz was fifth in the long jump, Rachel White finished 15th in the 3200
meters, and the boys 4x100 relay placed 6th. Kaylee and Robin were also honorable
mention on the Garden City Telegram's All-Area track team.
Congratulations to all Lakin High School spring sports athletes. We will post more awards
